nup a farm in a rural community, somebody who grew up in an inner city, and they're different realities and we have to respect them, but what we know is the majority of responsible gun owners recognize we cannot have a situation in which 20 more of our children or 100 more of our children or 1,000 more of our children are shot and killed in a senseless fashion. there are commonsense steps we can take to build consensus around and we cannot be -- we cannot shy away from taking those steps. so bottom line is this, people. we got a lot of work to do. what we've learned over the last four years, at least what i've learned over the last four years, is that it won't be smooth. it won't be simple. there will be frustrations. there will be times where you guys are mad at me. i will occasionally read about it. but as long as we keep in mind why we came here in the first place, as long as we think back to whatever inspired each of us to say maybe i can give something back, maybe i can make a difference, maybe my purpose here on earth is not just thinking about what's in it for me. think

it in perspective, we are just getting going here. this storm just starting to wind up. in cities like boston, dealing with a slushy mess and snow right now. maine heavy snow for you. new york, just starting to turn over to snow but by the evening rush around 5:00 p.m. really going to get blasted there in new york city. heavy snow expected tonight. could pick up another eight inches to a foot and the word of caution today is get out early, get off the roads. many governors wanting you to do that very thing. here's a look at tomorrow then. still dealing with blizzard-like conditions in the cities including boston. this is a long duration of that and that's a problem with this system. storm:con for boston is a 10. that's the highest level here at the weather channel. you need caution with this. seeing the blizzard-like conditions, additional 12 to 18 inches tonight. the winds ferocious. also gusting up to 60 miles per hour so we'll see blowing, whiteout conditions in massachusetts tonight in to through tomorrow, as well. where we pick up another five to eight inches so blizzard-like conditions

ability to survey cities. when all that starts coming home and you start getting into this tom cruise "minority report" sort of micro-drones outside your house sur veiling you, that's the next question. i think most americans they just don't understand what it is. they support it because it keeps them sane. they don't know the technicalities. >> it's two conversations we're really having. one is the operational features of drones. the other is the legal features of the drone program. i think let's put aside the legal features question right now. operationally drones do serve a purpose. we could theoretically be putting boots on the ground in yellen and pakistan and are all complication with that, and never in the history of warfare have there ever been things without collateral damage. what this does essentially is it tries as best it can to limit the boots on the ground, and there is still classral damage, and that's awful, obviously, but in terms of warfare, operationally, drones do have a defensible purpose. the question is what is the side effects of it, and what are the legal arg

. that's going to take away from some of their total, but still you could literally go from new york city where they may get 6 to 10 inches to westchester county where it could be as much as 24 inches. all of connecticut is expecting over a foot of snow easy and it will be blowing around and once again, the state of connecticut is facing power outages with a storm of this magnitude. just hard to believe, but this poor state has just been hit so hard. and the problem, craig, is, okay, we see the power outages, the poles are down, tree limbs are down. how do you get the power back on? how do you get to the poles where there's two, three feet of snow on the ground in some of these areas? that has to be removed first before you can get in and restore power. that's why they're telling everybody, plan on extensive power outages with a storm of this magnitude and, unfortunately, everything we see meteorologically is coming together right now off the east coast of new jersey. >> jim cantore with the very latest for us from boston. thanks to you, sir. appreciate that. much more ahead with martin b
